In a Priest Driven Ambulance was a real turning point in the career of the band, forged as it was in a time when the future of Restless Records was far from certain; the band set out to make a great album, fearing it might be their last. It shows; the previous three albums are a fun listen but with their fourth release the band managed to pitch a considered balance between quirky lyrics, punk noise, experimental sounds and monumental intent.

The vinyl issue of the album is a pared down affair, albeit on sumptuous marbled purple wax, and notable for the charateristically nonesensical conceit that all the tracks are 3 minutes 26 seconds long.

The album was also released on the German City Slang label for Europe, though the tracks have become more readily available on CD re-issues and The Day They Shot a Hole in the Jesus Egg compilation. Recently, for those of you wed to joys of analogue sound, the LP has been re-issues in new packaging by Plain Recordings.
